That CAPS meeting was a clusterfuck.
Seriously, gay folks can’t start fighting one another. Not with Michelle Bachmann on the horizon.

owning my truth: Attention Chicago queers! →
southernish:
If you are support queer youth, especially queer youth of color, your help is needed. There is a somewhat recent “movement” to “Take Back Boystown” and it needs to be quashed. It is, at its core, racist, along with classist and ageist.
There have been some muggings in Boystown and a high-profile…

Take it back from who? →
I love how all the yuppy white gay men are getting upset because of this crime wave now that it’s in “their” neighborhood. I guess stabbings are fine, as long as they stay on the South Side. Seriously, the racism has to stop. Boystown is the only place most of these kids have to go. Instead of blaming black queers, we ought to be opening an constructive dialogue on how to help...

Dancing in the Flames
Pride is a time of year when gay people celebrate, well, being gay. Complete with block parties, barbeques and plenty of booze, over half-a-million Midwesterners descend on Chicago for a weekend of dancing and debauchery. Boystown, already Michelle Bachmann’s own personal Hell, becomes a virtual Sodom and Gomorrah. Of course, this isn’t really what Pride is about....

Porn and Chicken
Moving to Chicago proved to be the easiest thing I’ve done in ages. The money came together. The house came almost immediately. My family was supportive, and what remained of my friends were encouraging and understanding. Things in life never happen this easily. Ever. For the last week I was in Kentucky and the first week I was in Chicago, I kept waiting for the...

$2 Beers?
I knew I loved DS Tequila for a reason. Sitting on the patio, watching cute boys walk by, and working on my latest column. All this after having a lunch date with a very cute boy and getting my canvassing job transferred to HRC. Productive day. But more on that later. For now, beer me.

Welcome to the Windy City
I moved to Chicago out of desperation. That is the first thing you need to know. When people ask me what brought me to the Windy City, I always tell them that I was having shit luck with both jobs and men in Kentucky, and Chicago has more of both. That isn’t a lie, but in many ways it oversimplifies the truth. After graduating college in May 2010, I stuck around my college town—the...
